guest’s role in the overall feel/atmosphere of an event. Guests will be invited into the installation and
transformed into the building housing Satellite Art Show. Participants will be bathed in bright lights containing
different textures and images of the Pfizer building as well as patterns inspired by the building’s colors and
structure. In doing so, attendees can be vulnerable and embrace their presence as an integral piece of the whole.
When one makes the decision to participate in/ attend an event, whether it’s an art show, concert, what have
you, they actively become a part of the environment and the ethos of that event. These spaces of creativity
become so much more than just the art on display or the people performing. It is always a collaboration of all in
attendance, shaping how everything is perceived.
Please join me for this experiment and become a part of the collaboration!
Jarid Blue [KingMallard]
Born in Miami, Florida and currently based in Brooklyn, New York. He received his B.S in Hospitality
Management at the University of Central Florida. Blue was creatively influenced during his childhood by his
grandfather who created intricate pattern based paintings and his father who worked as a kitchen and cabinetry
designer. While he started making art after finishing his schooling, he has been very prolific in creating
photographs and paintings. He focuses primarily on using the nude body as his canvas.
In 2012 Blue began to build a series of cosmic landscapes on reclaimed wood. Adding a twist to this cosmic
style—he began painting pictures of nude bodies in space, embracing the thought that we are all naked in space.
He refers to this part of his collection as cosmic nudes. Not long after, he started to experiment with projecting
his finished paintings onto people and photographing the results. This is what would become the start of his
Light Bath portraits.
Because of his hospitality background, Blue has been very interested in creating specific positive experiences for
his models. From his original paintings to his photo work now, he always believed that the biggest influencer
for the work was the experience for the participant involved. This was always something he has, and wants to
continue to have, as a staple in his art.
Blue has shown work and created a number of his Light Bath installations across the country. Working with
different brands and creatives to help bring a body positive experience to their events. He has also completed an
artist residency in tandem with his partner Kat Hooper, at The James Black Gallery in Vancouver, Canada.
